The pegomastax keeps the stuff it steals from you in it's inventory for a bit. When you kill it within a certain time you will get your stuff back (unless it was pegomastax taming food like berrys, but for example cooked meat you can get back). But once you pick up an egg it's a like a wide ping and they all rush you from a pretty big area. If the oviraptor picks it up that ping doesn't get sent. If they haven't changed it, of course.
